Once diagnosed with prostate cancer, your urologist will discuss all available treatment options and help you decide which treatment is best for you. The usual treatments include surgery, radiation therapy, medication, and watchful waiting (monitoring the cancer without treating it). The treatment plan that is right for each patient is dependent on many factors including age, overall health, how fast the cancer is growing, and whether it has spread outside the prostate gland.
