MALE INFERTILITY

MALE INFERTILITY is the inability of a man to initiate pregnancy in his female partner.  The problem most commonly occurs when the male does not have fully functioning sperm.

There are many factors that may contribute to infertility including:

  • Structural defects of the reproductive system
  • Low sperm count and low motility
  • Hormonal deficiencies
  • Illness or infections
  • Trauma

The process of diagnosing infertility usually begins with a complete history and physical exam with blood work and semen analysis.  The treatment options for male infertility will depend on the specific problem.
